Dear Holmes Families:

Good evening!  By the end of this week, we will be halfway through 1st quarter!  I sincerely hope that your students have had a smooth start to the year.  If not, please do not hesitate to reach out and let us know how we can support.

A few announcements for this week:

    • I am very excited to announce that we have selected our new 7th grade Assistant Principal, Ms. Rose Moore!  Ms. Moore is currently the Coordinator for K-12 Mathematics Instruction in the Instructional Services Department for FCPS, and she will be starting her first day with Holmes this coming Friday, September 29th.  Rose was previously an Educational Specialist for the Cluster offices, an instructional coach at Glasgow Middle School, and a Math teacher at Twain Middle School.  Ms. Moore is excited to be back in a school setting directly supporting students and teachers, and we are excited to have her!
    • Late buses start this week along with a number of clubs and after school help with teachers.  See the schedule below for scheduled clubs, sponsors, and locations.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Margaret Barnes, Principal

Holmes' 50th Anniversary & FCPS School Board this week!

At this Thursday's FCPS School Board meeting, Holmes Middle School will be recognized for our 50th anniversary!  Recognitions are scheduled at the beginning of the agenda, which starts at 7:00 PM at Luther Jackson Middle School at 3020 Gallows Road in Falls Church.

Thank you so much to our PTA for making this happen!

Save the Date: 50th Anniversary Celebration - Saturday, October 21st!

As many of you know, 2017 is Holmes Middle School's 50th Anniversary!  Last year, students were challenged to read 50 books and the school met the challenge of completing 50 Acts of Service!

In collaboration with the Holmes MS PTA, we are planning our culminating event for Saturday, October 21st from 10 AM - 2 PM here at Holmes.  More information to come over the next couple of months!
